Activities for Children

These are just some of the great activities and attractions in the area especially aimed at kids and 'not so' grown ups

Beaches and water based activities.

Sports Nautique At Aubeterre.  There is a kayak club which gives you the opportunity to discover the river. You can rent for half a day, full day or by the hour. There is also a great sandy beach here which has supervised swimming, childrens playground, picnic area, lovely grassed area and canoeing. http://snpa-aubeterre.wix.com/snpa-aubeterre-en

St Aulay. also has a river beach with the addition of water slides! There is a great bar/restaurant which offers an excellent Moules Frites night every Sunday (booking recommended)

La Jemaye. is a lovely lake with white sandy beaches.

Brossac. There are several possibilities for canoeing and kayaking. In Brossac itself the Brossac lake Etang Vallier Resort rents sit on top kayaks in child and adult sizes (2 euros per 1/2 hour). This is perfect for a little paddle around with little danger for all ages. Leaving from Parcoul is the departure point for a trip up the river Dronne to Aubeterre or St Aulaye. They take you in van to the proper spot for the length of journey you choose. You can do the same from the lakeside beach in Aubeterre. Prices range from 6.50 euros for an hour rental to 15.50 euros for a full day trip with the van transport included. www.etangvallier.com/en

Vallier Lake. Beach with is supervised between July and August, and adventure playground , a volleyball pitch, and close by is quad bike hire and jet ski. Caters for all abilities with qualified instructors. Also fishing, pony trekking and several walks for all abilities.

Nautilus Water Park in Angouleme. Just 40 minutes away is this fantastic water park with a 50m indoor pool, diving boards, indoor and outdoor slides and wave machine. There is a lake for fishing, sailing and water sports. www.nautilis.fr

Other stuff.

Safari Park Guizengeard. Visit in a 4x4 two parks of several hundred hectares, where you will discover semi-wild stags, deer, wild sheep and wild bore. www.safari-parc.fr

Adventure. For more adventurous families, your children can let off steam at the Tepacap Activity Centre or the Indian Forest. The Tepacap Activity Centre, close to Bordeaux airport, is an outdoor activity park in a forest setting and has different zones for different ages. The Indian Forest offers 17 different tree top trails for various abilities. There is also a chance to take part in other activities such as paintballing, wall climbing, pony rides, bungee jumping and more.  www.tepacap.fr

Circuit Karting Du Perigord. This is a fabulous, professional standard karting track at Tejat. www.circuit-karting-perigord.fr/

Markets.

Everyone visits one of the local markets during their stay with us. It's just so quintessentially French to visit a bustling market bursting with wonderful fresh local produce and some fine arts and crafts.
